Sleep,

2021

I think it’s fair to say sleeping was one of my biggest challenges of 2021. Something about this sculpture seemed to encapsulate the foggy sleep deprived mind of my first 10 months or so as a new father. However, the silver lining to not getting enough sleep was that I found letting my mind wander during those twilight hours could be quite good for creative problem solving - for example where to include the yellow line (images 2, 3 & 6).

In continuing with tradition of naming sculptures after bands I wondered if there might be creative parallels that lead the 90’s Californian ‘stoner rockers’ to name their band ‘Sleep’ too.
